Humidity? No Problem.

Humidity? No Problem.

We made a home with our Neighborhood Showrooms in Atlanta, Georgia, and are coming soon to Miami and Boca Raton, Florida! We love these cities for many reasons, especially their gorgeous outdoor landscapes. Of course, all this beauty goes hand-in-hand with the Southern heat. Anyone who’s experienced real humidity—from the woods of the northeast down to the tropics of Florida—knows it well: humidity is sticky, damp, and hot, hot, hot.

Fear not. We know we’ve said it before, but Outer sofas were designed for any and all climates, places, and spaces. That includes an East Coast heat wave.

Our water-resistant fabric in Pacific Fog Gray

Our fabric stays dry, and it’s mold- and mildew-resistant

Our fabric is designed with a unique coating that makes it weather-resistant. It’s also resistant to mold, mildew, the effects of the sun, and most any stain. We have one-upped what you typically find in outdoor furniture by adding a protective barrier that ensures that the foams and fill stay 100% dry. That way you never have to worry about mold and mildew infesting your memory-foam cushions.

An extra breathable layer in there keeps the foam dry and mildew-free

Even if it’s a high of 95 degrees (with 80% humidity), you can be sure moisture won’t soak through the fabric. It’s always clean and dry for future use.

All-weather wicker for the win

All-weather wicker stays strong year-round

Traditional wood frames for outdoor furniture are laminated together. The swelling and shrinking of wood in the rain (or high humidity) cause the joints to split. If the end grain is exposed, it acts like a straw and sucks up moisture, which eventually leads to the growth of mold and mildew.

We use a synthetic HDPE wicker which is impervious to moisture and rain, and physically can’t retain water. Our frame won’t break a sweat, literally, in humid or moisture-heavy environments.

We’ve had our wicker chair hanging out on the rooftop of our factory for over a year now. Our factory experiences all four seasons, too: hot, humid summers; regular rainstorms; and snowy winters. We’ve yet to see the effects of climate on the chair. It’s held up perfectly.
