My husband, Michael, is former military, now working for the Army as a civilian. He and I also breed Golden Retrievers. We officiate for USA Swimming, and we’re lucky enough to travel around the county to share our passion for athletics. But the hobby we enjoy most is also a saying we have printed on our family room wall. It reads: "What I love most about our home is who I share it with.” We absolutely love entertaining and sharing our home with others. We have a beautiful backyard on a lake with a pool and covered deck, where we spend a lot of our time. Watching the osprey dive and seeing the herons walk in our backyard while a bald eagle sits in our tree surveying all never ceases to thrill us. We enjoy taking out the canoes and the paddle boards, not only for the exercise, but to be closer to nature...and neighbors. There's a real sense of community with other families living on the water. We enjoy spending time in the pool and have friends and family over frequently. We set up a volleyball net in the pool so there's a lot of games. We like to make it interesting so it's typically wives against husbands, or kids against parents, and there's a lot of smack talk. We have a TV on our covered deck, so even as the weather turns cooler, we spend a lot of time out there watching football games, as well as grabbing a blanket and some popcorn, and cuddling up with the grandkids, or each other, to watch movies. Of course, our dogs are right there with us. I would say that our busy life, both personal and social, revolves around our covered deck.
