I recently left my career in corporate finance to focus on the kids and bring a new balance to our family during this global pandemic. I also have a creative pursuit — I’ve been practicing modern calligraphy/hand-lettering for a few years. My husband and I both grew up outside of the US and have a deep love for travel that we share with our children — this is the first year we have skipped international travel as a family and we’re itching to get back out there! We have an L-shaped backyard. The horizontal part of the L is grass, and the vertical part of the L is defined in two parts — about 2/3 is concrete, where our son practices basketball, and 1/3 is pavers, which we’ve set up as an outdoor living room (including our Outer set, fire-pit table, picnic table and benches, etc). We love that our outdoor area has become an extended living space for us, especially during 2020 and 2021. Being able to have the space to spend time with friends outside safely and comfortably has been a blessing. We are also fortunate to live on a block with lots of kids in the same age range as ours, and are grateful that we have a safe and comfortable space for them to play together in our backyard.
