How we incorporated bug-repellant technology in our blanket
Insect Shield® technology is proven to repel pesky mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, flies, ants, chiggers, and no-see-ums. The permethrin technology utilized is based on years of research and field study, based on an insect repellent found in plants (like chrysanthemum flowers).
Insect Shield® bonds tightly to fabric fibers (as opposed to being applied directly to your skin), resulting in long-lasting repellency that will last through the blanket’s expected lifetime. The protection is invisible and odorless— biting insects know it’s there, but you and your family won’t.
The best part? Insect Shield® can be used by the entire family, including women who are pregnant or are nursing and infants and children of any age, as well as pets. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issues a consumer labeling category rating for each product registered. Insect Shield® has been rated a category IV, which is the most favorable and lowest-risk rating. There is no potential for overuse; it is not harmful to the eyes, nor can it be swallowed.

Easy to clean and maintain
Simply hand or machine-wash blankets with a mild detergent (avoid dry-cleaning, as this can strip some of the Insect Shield® protection from the fabric). Our blankets can be laundered while still retaining their bug-repellant properties throughout the course of their expected life.
Sustainably made
Our blankets are made with 100% recycled fibers. By repurposing fabric, we’ve given the material a second life, which slows down the need to continue extracting resources from our planet.
