Seven Years in Sherry’s Backyard
One of Outer’s first New Jersey Hosts on seeing before buying, living outdoors through winter, and a backyard made for one—or one hundred.

Before Sherry Kerrigan’s home became proof of how Outer furniture lives, it became one of the places where people first learned how to trust it.
In 2019, after finishing the landscaping at her New Jersey home, Sherry began looking for outdoor furniture. She discovered Outer while the brand was still young and became one of the state's first Neighborhood Showroom Hosts.
Later, Outer staged a photo shoot right in her backyard. Seeing the furniture in a real setting—and becoming part of the story—gave Sherry something no website could replicate: confidence grounded in real-life connection.
She went on to invest in several pieces. Seven years later, that same home stands as a living record of all the moments that followed: cozy winter afternoons, spontaneous drop-ins, birthday celebrations, quiet afternoons with a book, and one unforgettable gathering that brought a hundred guests through the door.
Would it be as good as advertised?
Sherry’s hesitation was not unusual. Outdoor furniture is a considered purchase, and buying online can feel like a leap of faith—especially when comfort, scale, and material quality are difficult to gauge through a screen.
Her home became an answer to that problem twice: first for Sherry herself, and later for the prospective owner she welcomed as a Host.
“My question was, was it going to be good like advertised? It’s difficult to purchase online, especially at a higher price point.”Sherry Kerrigan

Time answered the question.
For seven years, Sherry’s Wicker Sofa has moved to the rhythm of her home. It was never kept as a pristine showpiece; it has been truly lived in—covered and uncovered through changing weather, rearranged as the seasons shifted, and called upon whenever the house came alive with guests.
Made ready, not precious.
For Sherry, ease is not an abstract feature. It is the difference between preparing an outdoor space and actually enjoying it. Maintenance is part of the daily routine, while seasonal durability and flexibility keeps the furniture connected to life outside for more of the year.

Flip it open. The room is ready.
Sherry uses the built-in covers nearly every day to help keep dust, pollen, and the ordinary mess of outdoor life away from the cushions. When colder weather arrives, she moves the sofa to the front porch so she can continue enjoying it through the winter months.
“If I have to suddenly get ready for somebody coming over, then it’s pretty easy to just flip the covers open.”
Furniture isn't meant to be admired from afar. Its true magic is cutting out the effort, so nothing stands between Sherry and a soothing moment outdoors.
Built for the crowd. Kept for the quiet.
Sherry’s outdoor space has hosted multiple birthday parties and a May gathering that brought one hundred people to her home. On big hosting days, the furniture gives out the energy—a natural landing spot to sink in, swap stories, and drift effortlessly from one conversation to the next.
“Multiple birthday parties—and a hundred people came to my house in May.”
But scale is only half the story. Asked about her favorite kind of moment outside, Sherry did not describe a party. She pictured the late afternoon and a book.
The home became the proof.
As an early Host, Sherry has welcomed people who wanted to understand Outer beyond the screen. Her seven years of ownership now make those conversations more useful: she can speak not only about a first impression, but about how the furniture behaves in a similar climate over time.
That is the quiet power of a real home. Nothing is staged around a promise. Visitors can see the setting, feel the materials, sit down, and ask the questions that matter to them. The reassurance comes from an owner who has already lived the answer.
